1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the SmartGrill iOS application handles information when you use the app. Questions about this policy can be sent to hello@smartgrill.app.
2. Information SmartGrill uses
SmartGrill may process technical information required to connect to the SmartGrill server you configure, such as its address and connection status. The app also processes grill and probe information supplied by that server, including temperatures, targets, battery status, session information and timestamps.
Configuration and grilling-session information may be stored locally on your device where required for app functionality. SmartGrill does not require you to create a SmartGrill user account on this website.
3. Local network access
If your SmartGrill server is located on your home or local network, iOS may ask for permission for SmartGrill to access devices on your local network. This permission is used to communicate with the SmartGrill server you choose to configure.
4. Notifications and Live Activities
If you enable notifications or Live Activities, SmartGrill uses the relevant Apple platform features to show grilling information and alerts. Depending on your SmartGrill configuration, notification delivery may involve Apple Push Notification service and a notification service operated for SmartGrill. Information required to deliver a notification can include a device push token and the alert content.
5. Analytics and advertising
SmartGrill does not use your grilling data for advertising. The SmartGrill website does not intentionally use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies.
6. Sharing of information
SmartGrill does not sell your personal information. Information is only transmitted where necessary for functionality you choose to use, for example communication with your configured SmartGrill server or delivery of notifications through platform services.
7. Data retention
Locally stored app data remains on your device until it is removed by the app, by you, or when the app is deleted, subject to iOS behavior. Data retained by a SmartGrill server depends on the configuration and retention settings of that server.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to keep SmartGrill's software and services secure. You are responsible for securing any SmartGrill server you operate, including keeping credentials private and using appropriate network security.
9. Children's privacy
SmartGrill is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe personal information has been provided to us in error, contact us so we can investigate.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when SmartGrill's functionality or data handling changes. The current version will be published at smartgrill.app/privacy.html with an updated revision date.
